Leeds United fans on Twitter are fuming after they weren’t given a penalty during Monday’s game against Brentford.

Patrick Bamford appeared to have been brought down by Julian Jeanvier inside the penalty area but the referee waved away all of Leeds’ protests allowing play to continue.

Had the penalty been given and subsequently converted Leeds would have had a 1-0 lead which may have changed the outcome of the game.

The Whites have a record of winning 20 out of their 21 games when scoring first this season, with only Wigan bucking that trend on Good Friday.

Leeds fans were incensed by the decision as they were well aware of the consequences of the referee’s failure to award them a spot kick.

Marcelo Bielsa’s side went on to lose the game 2-0 which leaves them three points behind Sheffield United with two games to go in the race for promotion.

With promotion to the Championship secured with one game remaining in the season, Luton Town can finally start planning for the summer.

Back-to-back promotions see the Hatters return to the second-tier of English football after 12 years away from the division, and after such a dominant season in League One, Luton will be heading into next season that they can make an impact in the Championship, but the club have to be smart over the summer.

As well as trying to keep hold of the stars that took the club to the Championship, Harford will be looking at players that can improve the current side and help solidify their status as a team on the rise, and rumours are already starting to circulate.

According to Alan Nixon of the Sun, the Hatters are keeping tabs of Preston North End striker Louis Moult, who is valued at £675,000 on Transfermarkt, and the forward should be a priority for Harford this summer.

Moult has found it hard to nail down a starting position in the Preston team this season, only starting eight games in the Championship which has resulted in the former Stoke City graduate scoring just four goals this campaign.

The 26-year-old striker could do with a change of scenery, and Luton would be the perfect destination for Moult. Playing in a team that use two strikers would mean the attacker has a good chance of playing and starting a good number of games, and his past goal records show that he is a player who can score a few when given the chance.

Moult would be a great signing for Luton this summer, and Harford must do everything he can to acquire the striker from Preston if they allow the forward to leave the club.

وأوضح النادي أنّ صاحب الـ27 عامًا، على ما يُرام، مُشيرًا إلى أن قرار مشاركته في مباراة الغد، في يد المدرب النرويجي، أولي جونار سولشاير.

When a player leaves Celtic, there is usually someone to fill in the void immediately.

As is the case with their centre-defensive shape, where Dedryck Boyata’s set to leave a hole in. Thankfully for Neil Lennon, another defensive hero is right there to take up the mantle.

Towering centre-back Jozo Simunovic is finally repaying the trust Celtic put in him when they signed him up for roughly £6.75m four years ago.

Donning the jersey of Billy McNeil, the 6’3’ defender has displayed shades of the Celtic legends with his rock-solid nature. Since the Old Firm derby, Simunovic’s started six successive games in all competitions. The Hoops have kept 6 consecutive clean-sheets thanks to his heroics, where he’s neutralized attacking threat with his strong defender.

A powerful figure who is brilliant aerially and organized against mobile threats, he’s helped keeps things tidy at the back. Moreover, Simunovic’s proved his complete skills by scoring two goals in consecutive games. Boyata might’ve been a vital cog in their defence, yet Simunovic is already making fans forget about him.

Just when it seemed like the Hoops would have to shell out finances to sign Boyata’s potential replacement, Simunovic’s emphatic performances saved them millions. The big Croatian is there to stay at Parkhead, having already created an unbreakable bond with Kristoffer Ajer to help protect the Hoops from sharks vying to sink them underneath.

كشف لؤي وائل مدافع نادي الجونة، كواليس مباراة فريقه أمام الزمالك في نهاية الموسم الماضي، التي حسمت الدوري لصالح الأهلي في ذلك التوقيت.

وكان الزمالك تعادل مع الجونة، في الموسم الماضي، بهدفين لمثلهما، وشهدت المباراة مشادات كبيرة بين لاعبي الفريقين في نهاية اللقاء، بسبب خسارة الأبيض المنافسة على اللقب مع الأهلي.

وقال وائل خلال تصريحات عبر برنامج “الماتش” على قناة “صدى البلد”: “تعرضنا لألفاظ خارجة من لاعبي الزمالك، كانوا في حالة عصبية كبيرة ولهم العذر في ذلك لأن عدم فوزهم باللقاء سيؤدي إلى خسارتهم بطولة الدوري”.

وتابع: “كنا نخوض اللقاء بهدوء شديد، تعاهدنا على إثبات أنفسنا خاصة وأن البعض حاول التقليل من فريق الجونة قبل المباراة”.

According to German outlet Kicker, Manchester United have inquired about the availability of Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski, along with French champions Paris Saint-Germain.

What’s the word, then?

Well, the Red Devils have asked about the Poland international’s availability with Lewandowski still yet to agree terms over a new contract – his current deal expires in the summer of 2021.

The 30-year-old hitman has scored 38 goals and recorded 13 assists in all competitions across the 2018/19 campaign, and still has one Bundesliga game to play as Bayern look to fend Borussia Dortmund away from their crown.

Lewandowski is undoubtedly one of the best forwards in Europe, and has produced an excellent strike rate wherever he has gone; he hit 103 goals in 187 appearances for Dortmund, and has 189 in 240 games for Bayern.

Having said that, he would be a terrible signing for United.

Why would it be a bad move?

354 goals in 541 games across his career, and no signs of slowing down. Why would it be a bad move for United to swoop for the Pole?

Well, to put it simply, it would show that the Red Devils aren’t learning from their previous mistakes.

Alexis Sanchez. Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Nemanja Matic. Bastian Schweinsteiger. Big names, signed with little thought in regards to the long-term future of the club, and presumably all on mega salaries; why were they signed?

Sanchez is now desperately trying to be offloaded by the club, whilst Matic was amongst their worst performers in the season just gone; Ibrahimovic performed well for about a year before being moved on in the twilight of his career; Schweinsteiger was a ghost of the player who lifted the World Cup with Germany.

Even if Lewandowski does hit the ground running, it is such short-term thinking from United. He could score 30 goals in two seasons at the club, but the Pole will still need replacing in no time and would not command a transfer fee anywhere near what he would cost United right now.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side must learn from their previous mistakes and stop signing these marquee names with little sell-on value or long-term potential.

Arsenal star Alexandre Lacazette has won the club’s Player of the Year reward, scoring 19 goals this season and registering 10 assists in the process as well.

The Frenchman has been in wonderful form throughout the year, displaying hunger, grit, skill and an eye for goal, whilst working brilliantly with strike partner Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. Despite the brilliant form, it still hasn’t been enough to earn him a call-up to the France squad by manager Didier Deschamps.

The French coach silenced all criticism towards his approach and selection by winning the World Cup last year, though there’s definitely a sense that certain players are being hugely overlooked, and Lacazette is one of them.

Deschamps have been stubbornly loyal to Olivier Giroud, who hasn’t enjoyed a particularly successful club campaign for a few years now, but he retains his spot in the squad for his overall contribution to the side. Ultimately, Deschamps has a way of playing, a system he likes to adopt, and Giroud fits that mould perfectly. So why change it?

Lacazette will feel unfortunate not to be included, and Arsenal fans took to Twitter to vent their frustration…

There’s a saying that the taste of ambition is addictive.

Jurgen Klopp clearly has that very obsession to do better after Liverpool’s rise in recent years, resulting in the best Reds team we’ve seen in years. Right now, it’s hard to argue that there’s always a need for improvement under the German’s regime but even after their historic campaign, the former Borussia Dortmund coach is already looking at ways to make them stronger.

Among the multiple acquisitions he may want to make, Klopp is apparently eager to add more firepower up front. Indeed, Divock Origi, despite his heroics, isn’t quite there yet and Daniel Sturridge’s contract is soon up so, to create an even more menacing attacking line, Klopp’s thought to be looking at top striking options.

According to reports (via Euro United late last week), he’s moved his attention towards Olympique Lyonnais’ Moussa Dembele. The 22-year-old Frenchman’s having a stunning campaign in Ligue 1, having scored 14 goals this campaign, proving he can do it outside of the Scottish league after such success with Celtic. Moreover, the former Fulham man’s style mirrors the philosophy Klopp’s pushing at Merseyside.

Perhaps minus the defensive contribution, the kind of thing players seem to naturally buy into when moving to Anfield these days, Dembele’s probably the next generation of prolific strikers. He’s quick, incisive with his movement in the final third and knows how to be a menace to defenders. Indeed, his impressive link-up play, distribution ability can also work towards tuning up Klopp’s heavy-metal football.

As an alternative to Roberto Firmino, the Frenchman seems perfect.

The 22-year-old’s a cunning goal-scorer and among the peak of French talents coming through the system. If Klopp truly wants someone to pick up Firmino’s mantle and take the goal-scoring pressure off Mo Salah or Sadio Mane, Dembele’s the man to lean on. He can become an Anfield hero with his goal-scoring quality and take Liverpool to new heights in the near future.
